Tips to Make Your Microblading Results Last Longer

Microblading is an incredible way to achieve those full, beautifully shaped eyebrows you've always wanted, without the daily hassle of filling them in. But like anything worth having, keeping your brows looking their best requires a little TLC. I've put together some personal tips to help you extend the life of your microblading results, so you can enjoy those flawless brows for as long as possible.

1. Stick to the Aftercare Instructions

The first few days after your microblading session are absolutely crucial. I always make sure to provide detailed aftercare instructions to my clients, and following them to the letter is key to ensuring your brows heal beautifully. Here's what I recommend:

  • Keep your brows dry: For at least the first week, avoid getting your brows wet. That means no swimming, saunas, or heavy workouts that make you sweat.
  • Apply ointments as directed: I'll usually recommend a specific healing ointment to keep your brows moisturized. This helps the pigment settle and your skin heal properly.
  • No makeup on the brows: As tempting as it might be, avoid putting any makeup on your brows during the healing phase to prevent infections and uneven healing.

Taking these steps will give your brows the best chance to look amazing from the get-go.

2. Protect Your Brows from the Sun

Sun exposure is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to fading microbladed brows. The UV rays can break down the pigments, leaving your brows looking dull or even discolored. To keep that from happening:

  • Wear a hat: When you're out and about, especially on sunny days, throw on a wide-brimmed hat to shield your brows.
  • Apply sunscreen: Once your brows have healed, make it a habit to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to your brows daily. This simple step can make a huge difference in maintaining your results.

3. Skip the Exfoliants

I get it—exfoliating is great for your skin, but not so much for your microbladed brows. Products with retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs can speed up the fading process. Here's what you should do:

  • Avoid exfoliating products on your brows: Steer clear of applying exfoliants directly to your brows. They can cause the pigment to fade faster than it should.
  • Be mindful of your skincare routine: When using anti-aging or acne treatments, be careful not to apply them too close to your brows.

4. Don't Skip Your Touch-Ups

Microblading is semi-permanent, meaning your brows will eventually fade over time. That's why touch-ups are so important. I usually recommend a touch-up session about 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment to perfect the look, and then annual touch-ups to keep everything fresh.

  • Schedule those touch-ups: Staying on top of your touch-up appointments will keep your brows looking crisp and defined, just the way you like them.

5. Be Gentle with Your Brows

Your brows deserve a little extra care, especially after microblading. Being gentle will help prevent any premature fading. Here's how:

  • No picking or scratching: I know it's tough, but resist the urge to pick at any scabs that might form during healing. Doing so can pull out the pigment and leave your brows looking patchy.
  • Go easy when cleansing: When washing your face, be extra gentle around your brows. Use a soft cloth or cotton pad to clean the area without scrubbing.

6. Hydrate and Take Care of Your Skin

Healthy skin holds onto pigment better, so staying hydrated and taking care of your skin is a must. Drink plenty of water, eat a balanced diet, and moisturize regularly to keep your skin—and your brows—in the best shape possible.

With a little extra care, you can enjoy your gorgeous microbladed brows for as long as possible. I'm here to help you every step of the way, so if you ever have any questions about how to care for your brows, don't hesitate to reach out. After all, your beautiful brows are my passion!
