After Care Instructions

After care is crucial, it is very important to follow these instructions for the full 1-2 week healing period to ensure proper healing and color retention. Results will vary for all individuals and we can not guarantee your results. Verbal instructions will be given at your appointment and may differ slightly from the following list of instructions based on your skin type and lifestyle. How To Wash

  • The day you get your brows done, leave them be and do not touch them at all.
  • Starting on day two, wash your new brows with the cleanser provided.
  • Be sure your hands are clean before you wash your brows
  • Begin by wetting your brows with some cool water
  • Dispense one or two pumps of foaming cleanser onto your fingers and gently pat foam onto your brows for a few seconds.
  • Rinse the soap off with water
  • Pat your eyebrows dry with a clean/disposable tissue or paper towel, making sure that the brows are completely dry. Allow NO WATER to collect or sit in the brow area.
  • Once brows are clean and dry use the ointment provided. (this ointment is oil based and changes in the constancy of the product are normal)
  • Dispense a very small amount (the size of a piece of rice) onto your finger tip. This amount is enough to cover both brows. The ointment may come out thick. To melt it down just rub between two fingertips until it feels oily.
  • Apply to eyebrows by gently tapping the ointment on
  • Please remember that less is more with this product. You do not want to overuse ointment as it can lead to poor healed results. The amount applied to your brows should be similar to a light coating of chapstick. If you have accidentally used too much, blot away any excess with a clean tissue.
  • Oily skin types may be told to avoid ointment altogether and allow a dry healing process. Please keep your aftercare products in a cool/dry place and keep them for your follow up session, as you will have to follow all of the same aftercare instructions again.

For the 2 weeks after your procedure please, follow the above washing instructions and implement the below guidelines.

Things Not To Do

  • DO NOT expose your brows directly to the sun during the healing process. UV Rays can alter the pigment of your tattoo. After your brows are healed you may use SPF when going out in the sun.
  • DO NOT sweat excessively for 10 days. Sweat can infect and prematurely fade your brow tattoo by pushing ink out of the skin. Salt in the sweat may also alter the color of your tattoo. Moderate exercise is fine.
  • DO NOT get your brows wet other than when washing. This is especially important in the first week! - DO NOT use Vaseline or any other ointments/ oils on your tattoo.
  • DO NOT use any makeup, creams, exfoliants on the brows for at least 14 days.
  • DO NOT go into saunas, pools, or steam rooms.
  • DO NOT get massages, facials or skin treatments during the 2 week healing process.
  • DO NOT go tanning, UV rays can alter the color of your tattoo.
  • DO NOT use exfoliants, retinol, acids, AHA's etc on the brow area. It will fade your tattoo prematurely and cause dramatic changes in color.
  • DO NOT use laser light therapy on your brow tattoo. This can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment.

Please look out for possible signs of infection such as an increase in redness, pain, burning sensation, yellowing scabs or pus coming from the area. If any of these occur, please consult a physician.

What To Expect

  • DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. This is usually a 2 step process. It takes time. BE PATIENT during your healing process, as your brows will change and appear different from day to day. - Immediately after and a few days following your procedure, brows will appear darker and more defined. Your brow tattoo can appear more solid, hair strokes may seem to disappear and it may look wet and painted on and sometimes raised. - Around day 5+ you will experience flaking and your brows may look dry. DO NOT PICK YOUR BROWS, let any dryness fall off naturally. If flakes get picked off prematurely, you risk pulling out pigment and causing scarring which will leave you with very patchy and uneven results.
  • Your brow tattoo will take up to 4 weeks to fully heal, even though the obvious signs of the healing process only last about 2 weeks.
  • When the flaking comes off, the hair strokes may seem faint and light. This is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the brow tattoo. Give your brows a few weeks and the hair strokes should become clearer and more visible. Color will continue to change on a daily basis until all healing is complete around the 4 week mark.
  • You may experience itchiness in the brows after your microblading procedure, due to the healing process of the dermal layer. It is extremely important that you do not itch your brows during the first 2 weeks.
  • Not everyone's microbladed hair strokes can heal clean and crisp. Hair strokes for oilier skin types tend to heal more powdery/blurry while drier skin types tend to heal more crisp and defined. Those who have oily skin or bleed more may need more touch ups, as the oils and blood push the pigment out while we tattoo and in the following days.

Touch Ups

  • Allow your brows a MINIMUM of 4 weeks to heal as it can take this long for the skin to fully rejuvenate and for the ink color to settle.
  • It is your responsibility to book your touch up appointments. Please keep in mind that available appointments tend to fill up at least one to two months in advance.
  • Touch ups are typically done within the first 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment. After 90 days any touch ups will incur a fee.
  • This is a process and some clients may need a third session to achieve their desired result. Some clients' skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions as well.
  • The first session is used to build shape and gain symmetry.
  • The second session is used to perfect the brows, add density, and fill in the areas that may not have healed well in the first session.

Long Term Care

  • THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF RESULTS as everyone's results will vary due to skin type, lifestyle, the initial aftercare process, and long term care of your brow tattoo.
  • Once fully healed use an SPF to protect your brows, sun exposure will cause fading and can alter the color of your tattoo. - Do not use chemical exfoliants on the brows, this will cause the brows to fade faster, lines to blur together by spreading, and it can change the color of the ink.
  • Do not get laser treatments on your brow area (IPL etc), some lasers may change the color of the ink. - As the tattoo fades, the strokes will get fainter and less defined.
  • Maintenance is required in order to maintain desired results. “Annual” touch ups are done on average every 6-18 months to maintain your brow tattoo.
  • Everyone retains the tattoo differently over time, so there is no set amount of time you should come in. I recommend booking your annual session when your brows are about 40-70% faded, or if you'd like to change the darkness or thickness.
  • We should not tattoo your brows more than 3 times within a 12 month period, as this can cause scar tissue to develop. If you feel like you need touch ups frequently and you are following all instructions above, then microblading may not be suited for your skin type.
  • Microbladed brows typically last 1-3 years.
